COMING SOON - The Career Book - Help for the Restless Realist
Jane Downes' due to publish her first book directly relating to Career Coaching and Career Transition within the Irish Market and is due to launch in February 2010!! ( Blackhall Publishing)
This book will be a forthright self-help career coaching book tailored very specifically to the Irish Market job seeker. The book does two things:
a) it anatomises the ways in which people commonly sabotage their own chances at success in their careers;
b) it coaches the reader in the art of realising their full vocational potential.
At the heart of this book is the proposition, based upon my experiences as an on-the-ground career coach in Ireland, that everybody needs to be their own career manager. When it comes to work, staying on autopilot simply won’t work.
The book is aimed at anyone in career transition –including all variables of age, income, status, class & nationality – as well as anyone about to embark on a career path (e.g. recent graduates). |

Previous to becoming a coach, Jane worked within the area of Executive Search & Recruitment and HR consulting where she excelled as a manager. These assignments involved carrying out consulting projects for some of Ireland’s brand name clients. Jane uses this vital experience gained in her Executive and Career coaching sessions with her clients. Jane initially commenced her career in a full time support worker/counselling position within a public sector/charity which she feels gave her excellent “life skills” working with homeless people. She continues to do part time Charity coaching work today for homeless people in transition on a voluntary basis.
Jane works on an associate basis with the Positive Success Group Dublin. She has been a co facilitator on the Diploma in Executive and Personal Coaching Dip Prog, in All Hallows College Dublin. She also co runs coaching Programmes for Schools and the Corporate Sector and facilitates day seminars in areas of coaching and training and emotional intelligence for managers and works with numerous businesses providing one to one business coaching for Managers and Leaders and Employees who currently hold positions and those who have been made redundant (outsourcing work). Jane also works on a part time basis for NetExpat (www.netexpat.com) a global Coaching Operation which specialises in Coaching for Senior Expats and their spouses and is program manager for Ireland. This gives her an International Dimension to her coaching work which she enjoys.
Jane now works with clients whether it is within a life coaching context or business/career coaching context,who feel they are "stuck in a rut" and want to move forward and believe despite these economic times they can do something about where they are at and improve their life substantially. Jane believes in clients living full lives. I always advise my clients not to let their limiting beliefs limit their life. Live a full life - think BIG - obviously within the confines too of reality and adopting the strategy of measured risk. Life as we know it is short so why live only half of it?
Jane strongly believes in working on both personal and professional goals. She feels the line between personal and business life has blurred and it’s so important to work with ALL aspects of your life. |
